Anna

This is our oldest and largest cottage.

The upper floor features two separate bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of 5 people (two in one bedroom and up to three in the other). The ground floor includes a common room with a sofa and TV, a separate kitchenette, and a bathroom with a shower.

Access is via a shared courtyard (shared with the owner). The cottage boasts a spacious, sunny terrace perfect for relaxation, equipped with a wooden table, seating, and comfortable upholstered garden furniture. Parking is available directly opposite the cottage.

The cottage is situated in a quiet location, away from the main road. In the immediate vicinity stands a massive, spreading linden tree—protected by law and over 450 years old—known locally as “Hrubá Lipa” (the Great Linden). Its trunk measures over 6.5 meters in circumference. Next to the tree, there is a pleasant park and relaxation area featuring a statue of Our Lady of Sorrows (the patron saint of the local church) and a children’s playground.

From the terrace, you can enjoy the scent of the Great Linden’s blossoms in spring, the pleasant shade provided by its spreading canopy on hot summer days, and the colorful display of falling leaves in autumn; in winter, gazing at the magnificent snow-covered scenery through the cottage’s small windows offers true relaxation. Every season in Ďurčiná is both unique and beautiful.

Cottage Anna is a family property, representing the heritage of the Rajčan family in Ďurčiná. The owner’s father was both born and lived in this small wooden house. It is named after her great-grandmother, Anna Rajčanová (née Juracsek; b. 1848, d. 1876), who lived in the original wooden house that stood on the site (demolished in 2005). Anna died at a very young age, leaving behind her husband, Jozef, and their son Matúš, who was only ten years old. Jozef never remarried. When Matúš was 22, he married Sidónia, who was 14 at the time; they had six children together. The current wooden house, named “Anna,” was built by their grandson Karol in 1921. He lived there with his wife Anna (née Sudorová), their three children, and his grandparents. The owner has vivid memories of her great-grandmother Anna Rajčanová (née Sudorová; b. 1906, d. 1992), with whom she spent every school holiday. She tended the geese and cared for the livestock, the fields, and the entire household. A petite, kind-hearted, and incredibly hardworking woman, she was well-liked by her neighbors.
